more on the Supernatural anime

So, according to the most recent update, the seiyuu (VAs) for the Supernatural anime will be the same as the Japanese dub of the show - Uchida Yuuya as Sam, Touchi Hiroki as Dean. I'm only passing familiar with either of them - you can hear their dubbing in this vid, starting around 7:40. Dean's voice is not quite what I would've expected and Sam sounds like such an uke, but I think they could both work out.

...Of course what I'm really hoping this means is that if/when they do get to Castiel (the first run of eps is only going to covers seasons 1-2, but if it does well they'll likely do more) they'll keep his dub voice - can't embed this vid, but listen to it here.

(That's one of my favorite seiyuu, Tsuda Kenjirou. As I coincidentally was just talking about, Tsuda's voice is the sex. He's perfect for Castiel, just the right balance of controlled reserve and arrogance, with a touch of vulnerability. Also did I mention the sex?)

ETA: (And Cas uses "watashi," of course. Mmmm, somehow guys using "watashi" always sounds way hot to me...)

I've got to say thanks for the update on the SPN anime. I've not been watching enough anime lately to keep up with the latest news, but I'd hate to miss out on this SPN thing.

Okay, seriously. Is this the universe's way of saying, "No, really, Immi. You need to get back to the crossover of DOOM!" Because, ahahahahahahaha. Laughing forever. (god, I still need to get around to watching season 4 of SPN. I saw two episodes of it while it was airing and have had the DVDs sitting there since Christmas. I are so lazy about my TV watching.)

You haven't seen s4? So you haven't even met Castiel? Oh man, you gotta meet Castiel. He's the main reason I'm still watching the show. (admittedly I have a mad angel-in-trenchcoat fetish, but still...) And Tsuda really is perfect for him...

I have seen Cas, because he was in the two episodes of that season that I did see (the one where he sends Dean back in time for whatever reason and we find out Mamma Winchester is a hunter and.... I watched the one with the guy writing the books about Sam and Dean. I think Cas was in that one too) And I agree he is totally awesome and a reason to actually keep watching. I just haven't drummed up the energy to actually sit down and watch the whole thing yet (for what it's worth, I've still got season 6 of NCIS sitting around too... and season 5 of House. XD)

*laughs* SPN takes a lot of energy to watch, this is true...it's got so very much WTF mixed with the awesome, and not the good WTF either. (and really I'm one to talk anyway, the only reason I watch almost anything is because I watch stuff with other people, and they're motivated. On my own I'm hopeless - this is why I still haven't seen more than a couple eps of White Collar even though Gnine keeps insisting I have to see more, and I've yet to watch Oofuri despite recs from all corners...)

LOL, their voices are pretty good! Dean kind of has permanent Batman voice and you're right about the uke!Sam, but Cas still has the sex voice. Damn. :D (Cas is totes a "watashi" kind of guy, Dean has to use "ore", but what about Sam? I couldn't find any clips but I'd pick him for "boku").

Kind of cautiously optimistic about the anime...could be awesome, could be utter WTFery. (Or both, most likely).

Tsuda Kenjirou's voice is like one of the top 5 sexiest in anime, I swear!

I'm leaning toward "ore" for Sam myself - or maybe "boku" when he's at college with Jess, but "ore" with Dean. Kind of depends on how they play his char, though. Hmmm, if I were still in Japan I would totally be renting SPN, just to hear!

And I am hoping for both awesomeness and WTF in large quantities! XD

LOL Tsuda Kenjirou is the only VA who's name I'd recognize. Yeah, pure sex on ice. I absolutely loved listening to his Kaiba -- the emotional range in it, while sounding like sex on wheels was incredible. I love his singing, too.

I'm a big fan of both seiyuu and American VAs (started when watching Gargoyles way back when. Keith David, mmmmm....) But Tsuda is definitely one of my faves - and yeah, he's got range, and he sounds sexy in all of it!

Oooh, of course Cas would use "watashi" while being a total badass.<3<3<3 When I heard about the anime all I could think of was that the doujin-drawing Japanese fangirls would explode for sure. Now I've moved on from 'wtf' to 'hey I hope it lasts long enough to have Cas in it'.

SPN is already big among Japanese doujinka! At least while I was there it was about the largest Western fandom I know of (or maybe second after Harry Potter, but largest Western-TV-show-based fandom, anyway...) But yeah, it's going to be crazy once it gets an anime!

Supernatural anime? This is the first I recall hearing of it! But somehow the whole idea seems to fit anime better than live action. I'm on board. Has it started airing? Have you seen any of it yet besides the You Tube clips? I wonder if the anime will provoke you into writing SPN fanfic in a way that the live show never has?...

... although I REALLY would like to see you work on one of your novels. I was rooting for Quest & Cale; but the latest couple of Dresden books have me realizing that Dresden is a superhero of sorts, and your Spectrum novel has the same sort of feel, so now I'm craving more Spectrum. Either way, I hesitate to encourage more fanfic when I'd really like to see more of either Spectrum or Quest & Cale.

Off now to check on Seattle-to-Manchester flights...

Oh, the anime doesn't exist yet - it only just got confirmed, that's why you haven't heard of it. It'll be released early next year. The clips I posted are of the Japanese dub of the live-action show (but it'll be using the same seiyuu. A lot of anime seiyuu do dub voices as well - Hirata Hiroaki, for example, who plays Gojyo in Saiyuki, also dubs Johnny Depp in movies.)

And I can't say for sure, but I rather doubt the anime will inspire me to fic for SPN, if the show hasn't. For the same reason - as long as it gives me what I want to see, I don't have any motivation to fic.

...right now I need more motivation to write anything! At least the YGO fic is something, but I would like to get back to the novel... ;_;
