GB shounen ai
Sep. 18th, 2003 05:20 pmDang GetBackers plot bunnies. They're everywhere. And these aren't normal plotbunnies. Oh no. I'm used to angst-bunnies, with their sleek black fur and gleaming dark eyes, waiting to pounce and drag you to shadowy warehouses and hospital rooms so you can inflict pain on innocent characters. I'm used to patting them nicely on the head and choosing the best of the litter to raise into full-grown stories.
But the BanGin bunnies? Are fluffy white angora lops with huge brown and blue eyes, short little bundles of adorable squish, and they're all begging to be picked up and cuddled. I'm not a writer of sap. Usually. These, I don't know how to resist. And more just keep appearing. I think they're breeding in the 360's trunk.
This one's for
wenlet, who when I begged her for a bit of teh cute, requested in return a story with the infamous pajamas on the cover of manga v.20. Examining said cover, my sis and I agreed that Ginji's happy happy joy joy expression can only mean "I'm getting SEX tonight!"
Hmm. Discounting the deathfic, this is the first true shounen ai I've written for GetBackers...
Read "Warm & Fuzzy" on AO3
I love you!
Date: 2003-09-18 02:57 pm (UTC)Aww, now I'm all warm and happy-fuzzy myself... I needed that. Thank you!
Re: I love you!
Date: 2003-09-19 06:07 am (UTC)and you're getting better, right? I asked Ban to go over and give you some sick-care, but Ginji might've distracted him...

Date: 2003-09-19 07:12 am (UTC)Honestly I couldn't tell if I was better or not, because I'm on a frickin' high after getting my manga! ^_^ Feels good anyway, if that's any help. But I think Ban got distracted...

Date: 2003-09-19 06:25 am (UTC)And 'cuz you asked - about half of certain Asian populations, including the Japanese, have a mutation that causes a deficiency in an enzyme that breaks down alcohol. Those with the mutation are more sensitive to alcohol, experiencing the so-called 'Asian flush' and other negative reactions. Non-Asians can also have this mutation, but it's less common. [/end science lesson] ^_^

Ah, yes, the enzyme! ...I really don't know why, but I remember we were talking about it in Japanese class...

Date: 2003-09-19 07:24 am (UTC)Also, mrrrrroar! You hit just the right balance in the smut scene so it was them, and it was hot without being too graphic. The bit at the thrift store about killed me. Poor Ban. He should know by now Ginji has no pride. ^_^
My only nitpick is at the beginning, where you say "for the sake of kawaii." The random Japanese there doesn't fit with the rest of the fic, and "for the sake of cuteness" works just as well, imo.
*throws more manga covers at you* (actually I wanna see someone write a story based on the picture where Ban and Ginji are carrying grocery bags and Ginji has a big bunch of sunflowers. Can't you imagine Ban throwing a dinner party after a big successful job to brag at Ginji's friends? ^_^)

Date: 2003-09-19 07:54 am (UTC)And even if I had any talent writing lemons, I don't think I could write graphic smut for GB. At least not without it getting very silly. 'cuz, umm...they would be!
Re: the kawaii. I'm an opponent of random fangirl Japanese in English stories (was terribly guilty of it in some of my early anime fics *cringe*) But in this case I meant the kawaii, not 'cuteness' - kawaii being a distinctly Japanese concept, and something some women go thru fairly extreme measures to attain, 30 year olds in sailor fuku and such. [/sociology ranting]
Hmmm, I do love that sunflower piccie...groceries are so adorably domestic...

Date: 2003-09-19 08:06 am (UTC)Re: kawaii -- Aaah, you have a reason! A good one! Okay then. :) That works for me. :)
I so know what you mean about fangirl Japanese. My first fanfics were for Legend of Basara. They're SOOOO BAAAD. One of them is half fangirl Japanese, and it's awful. I keep them online, though, to keep me humble. :)
Hahahaha! I get plotbunnies freakin' SHAVING MY LEGS (cut my ankle last night. Damn you GB!), so I HAVE to inflict the pain on other people as well. ;)

Date: 2003-09-19 08:17 am (UTC)To which Ban-chan replied, "No, now get back under the covers," as he made a mental note to look up the recipe for his grandmother's best fried chicken.
...umm. yeah. >_>
I didn't even realize I used that much fangirl nihongo until it was mentioned in a review of a Gravi fic...went back, checked, and sure enough...eek! should edit that out sometime.
tho' I've got this idea for an idiotic x-over which I could use the Japanese, since it'd take place in American and I don't think Ginji speaks English...

Date: 2003-09-19 08:28 am (UTC)...Ginji would have too much fun on a farm. Except they'd eat vegeterian the entire time there, because Ginji would make friends with all the animals and wouldn't let them be killed for din-din.
woohoo for idiotic GB xovers! What would it be a crossover with?
