I've been seeing this meme floating around the flist, and have been wondering how I'd do at it myself. Considering how many times I suspect I've reused the same turn of phrase, not to mention I was reformatting my page recently and realized I had entirely forgotten writing one story on there...well, we'll see.

A-- go to my fics and pick out a line or two from one of my stories.
B-- I will respond with which story I think it's from.
C-- points and a drabble to anyone who stumps me

I trust the gentle reader not to pick something too ridiculously vague. But your call.

Oh, I can't resist...

the chance to *maybe* get my very own drabble from you. Maybe my drabble request will tempt you into going back to one of your unfinished stories for a temporarily-abandoned fandom: "Remembering to Breathe" or "Darkness Visible" maybe?

But then, knowing you, you'll be able to identify just about every line you've written. But I'll give it a try. How about:

"His instincts had told him he wasn't wrong. He still believed so, but now his gut was also insisting that this was no joke."

DAMMIT. Unholy indeed. There's about a dozen of my fics that this line *could* apply, and I was thinking about it all night and came to no conclusions. But I'm going to guess, because you are cruel, you went way back. To X-files, even? I don't know, but I'm going to hazard that this is from the Future Horizons series.
...otherwise, where is it? because it's driving me nuts now!

HAH!! I stumped you!!

I wanted to take something from one of your Gravi fics, since that's what got me into fanfic... but everything I looked over in the few minutes I had was too obvious. So I went back a little further, to your XmagicalX ff.net page.

It's from A Little Piece of Paradise, the mayor of Vista's reaction when Vash tells him who he really is. Here it is in context:

"He looked at her, fists clenched, gaze fiery. He looked at Milly, who wasn't crying but looked as though her eyes might well up at any time. And he thought about the last two years, which was really only as long as he had known these two ladies and their friend, though it felt like much longer. There weren't many people he would trust as he had trusted them since almost the first time he had laid eyes on them. He had liked their attitude from the day they had walked into Vista, parched and gray with dust but not begging for charity, willing to work for water, for food, for a place to rest...a place to live. In two years he had seen no sign that they had any concealed motivations, any wish for anything but peace and acceptance.

His instincts had told him he wasn't wrong. He still believed so, but now his gut was also insisting that this was no joke. Red--Vash--wasn't smiling as he usually did; his mouth had a grim set, and his eyes..."

So, do I get my own personal drabble? :-D

WOW! Was that ever a fast response!

I'm hoping to entice you back into one of your fandoms/stories for which I've long been waiting for more, so how about something to do with Hakkai & Gojyo in the context of Remembering to Breathe or Ban & Ginji in Darkness Visible? That would do it for me.

Can't wait to see what Gnine thinks of my stumping you!

Oh, I was on G-Talk with her while she was figuring out what could stump you. She had a grand time giggling through stuff until she found what she thought might do it. And yes, I hope we know you!

MUST focus on work for the rest of the afternoon, or we'll never get out of here tonight.

Looking forward to my drabble.

Love ya'!

Yeah, lj navigation takes a bit to learn. easiest way is to click here ^^

To find this link - go to my info page - easiest way is to click the little person icon in front of [livejournal.com profile] xparrot - and then click the first icon in the blue box on top - the person with the plus sign.

(also, for a drabble request, the usual is name a character and/or pairing and a concept - random single word or short phrase, usually. So what's your pleasure?)
