So. My dear sainted fic-writing yaoi-loving mother has joined the ranks of lj. Hi, Mom!

In practice this won't change anything, since she's been reading my journal regularly anyways. But naturally for her debut she went and stumped me at my own meme game. (Might be owing a few more drabbles for this, too. Everyone is welcome to play!)

Thus, a drabble, per her request. Except it turned into a ficlet. Saiyuki, post-"Remembering to Breathe," so I suppose it counts as a spoiler of sorts for the as-yet unwritten ending (which will be written! honest!)
Gojyo/Hakkai. Who I haven't written in far too long, so please forgive how rusty I am.

Clear-headed

Love. *__* You know, I have been craving 58 fic lately so was very very happy to see this. ^_^ *floats away a happy 58 fangirl*

so glad you enjoyed it! it occured to me that this is technically the first 58 I've written...I'm so passionately OTP about them that I tend to forget that my Saiyuki fic is mostly gen ^^;

Mmm, happiness, so very verrry cute! Wheee, I'd missed you writing these boys...

Did I mention the Hakkai plushie I found? Wanted a Gojyou one as well but they didn't have it, sadly :) Still though, wheee...

Lovely -- and I have no idea what went on before it (lol) I liked Gojyo and Hakkai together, you caught the rhythym of the way they are. And I loved the little throwaway line: Gotta make sure Goku's not drunk enough to ask Sanzo for a dance, he might get an ear shot off or something.

(If I did things right that should come out in Italic... ^ _ ^;;;

Impressed as I am with the drabble/ficlet/whatever (and I am) I'm even more impressed with your mother! I'm still at the hiding-fanfic-from-my-kids stage. Of course they're a whole lot younger, but I don't know that I'd ever feel comfortable exchanging slash with my daughter either -- so thumbs up!

I'm even more impressed with your mother! I'm still at the hiding-fanfic-from-my-kids stage.

Since--after more than a couple decades not writing fic--it is my girls who got me back into it, and since they're the ones who introduced me to most of the anime I've seen and to yaoi, and since they have been sharing most of their writing with me since they were very small, it has been natural for us to share our fic writing. I think it was a little awkward for all three of us, at first, to read each other's slash. I didn't want to admit they knew that kind of thing or would write about it, and they certainly didn't want to know their mother even thought about sex--especially sex between two males--let alone would write about it. But since we have always been able to talk about almost anything, and we enjoy sharing what we read, write, and watch, we got past that awkwardness pretty quickly.

What I had more difficulty with for a long time was admitting to the on-line public that I--as old as I am and as entrenched and respected a community volunteer and educator as I am in our town--am also an anime/fanfic/yaoi fan and Xparrot's and Gnine's mother. The first anime fanfic I wrote was expressly for them, and they had some convincing to do to get me to post any of it on ff.net; and when I posted a bio on that site, I was loathe to admit much of my true identity, and I referred to them as "friends" who had introduced me to anime and encouraged me to post. When I finally registered for an LJ the other day, I think they were both pleased to see that I'm finally comfortable admitting to the online fan world that I'm their mom--and proud of it!--as well as an older-than-usual fan of anime and yaoi.

If your daughter follows in your fangirl footsteps, I'm sure you'll have a blast sharing the passion with her when she comes of appropriate age. Enjoy!

I wandered into this LJ after reading several comment from xparrot over the last few weeks that I enjoyed -

- and I'm happy to see another "older-than-usual" fanficcer. (And even more one that returned to creative writing after a long hiatus - as I did in 2002.)

Older-than-usual fan

I'm slowly discovering that there are a few of us out here. No one bats an eye at fans of any age for various live shows. And fans of all ages seem to write for those shows. But the fans and fic-writers for anime and manga seem to be primarily high school kids and young adults, and not too many of our peers even know what anime is, let alone understand the drive to write fic for it. But I had fun writing fic for Star Trek in high school, and the urge to do it again reawakened with my developing interest in anime and the reading and (sometimes) editing of Xparrot's dozens of fics.

I've always done writing of some kind or other, but I returned to fanfic the same year as you, late in 2002, with two Gravitation ficlets I wrote in response to Gravi stories by the two girls, then a longer fic I wrote for Gnine as a Christmas surprise in response to her begging me to write more.

Glad you enjoyed it! ^__^ Gojyo and Hakkai are actually one of my favorite anime couples, though I haven't written them in a while. This little story is a sequel to this, which will be finished...er...sometime...

And my mom, heh...she already responded herself (yeah, I get my long-windedness from her ^^) but I have to say, fanning with one's family is a great bonding experience. Though sharing the joys of slash cross-generationally did take a little getting used to, and it's probably more comfortable for the family now that all of us kids have grown & moved out - Dad and my brother don't really appreciate those particular dinner conversations! ^_~

Love It!

:-D

Very nice! Very sweet. I love it. Even out of practice you--as usual--beautifully capture their characters and their relationship. I hope it made you long to write them again, so you'll be inspired to finish Remembering to Breathe. It sure makes me long to read them again (and to get the ending of RtoB!) after many moons away from Saiyuki.

Thank you!!

Now, shall I wander back to your meme and see if I can stump you again so I can get more? or get a Ban/Ginji piece? *hehe*

POUNCE!!

Man, I have to cruise your journal more often!

Remembering to Breathe! Epilogue squeeage!

Loved dear Gojyo, he was so shattered by the loss it's fitting that he's jumpy if he can't find Hakkai.

Purrs happily... love your mother for this request.

Wanders off in happy daze.

After your reminder of it during our wee-hours talk this morning, I had to come back and reread this. **Sigh** So sweet and satisfying, and even moreso now that RtoB really is completed. Will you post it on ff.net after you finish posting RtoB?
