The non-spoilerery reaction to SPN "All Hell Breaks Loose Pt.1":
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
*cough*
HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
(--and it doesn't count! not if he's--because--argh! AHHHH!!)
And now a few comments on Smallville 6x21 "Prototype" from
gnine and myself:
1. Lex is hot.
2. Lex is evil.
3. Lois is still in my good books, and has a genuine reason to be mad as hell and out to take Lex down. As opposed to Chloe, who blames Lex for, um, bringing her mother out of her coma. Still confused on that one.
4. Lex is hot.
5. Our Heroes are Dumb. And I want to smack them around. 'Oh, yeah, Lex used to be a bit shady but now he's gone black as the inside of a ninja's navel at midnight. Why? Oh, we have no idea. You know, he just is. The script says so. Why ask why?'
6. Clark is awful pretty. Dumb, but awful pretty.
7. Lex is trying to save the world. Yes, in a wrong and evil way. Still. Saving the world.
8. Lex is on the fast track to supervillain-hood for reasons I don't buy. If he's so convinced of the reality of the metahuman threat, why does he have to mind control soldiers to do his bidding? Couldn't he talk them into it? Especially when the guy had signed on willingly? Also, what about the aliens he knows are out there? Why doesn't he care? I'm totally fanwanking from this point on that Lex's number one priority is still alien invasion, he just doesn't have evidence enough to get people to believe him. Except that the doc at least knows aliens are real...
9. At least they're setting up the appropriate anti-Superman tension, with his whole metahumans = THREAT TO HUMANITY (totally justified) paranoia.
10. And Lex knew Lana was listening! And totally knew he wasn't the man she loved, either. Why he's still trying to win her affections, I have no idea. Just kill her, Lex. Please.
11. He needs to be better with his help, however. Threatening them is all very well, but no need to lose your cool. Though he is quite young, not as imposing as a fully mature supervillain, still feeling the chill of Daddy's shadow. And that momentary flash of guilt (?) when facing his successful test subject in the teaser...shows of temper to hide his own uncertainties, perhaps.
12. None of this changes the fact that Lex is hot.
13. Seriously. Hot. The no-tie and top-button-undone and black slacks and jacket and yow.
14. And he has good taste in brainwashed soldiers. Mmm, Tahmoh Penikett. One wonders what else those implants did.
15. And Lex has a minion, too! That dark-haired guy following him around is so going to die. Or betray him. Please, if you must go, do so saving your boss, Unnamed Minion! You know how much fanatic minion loyalty turns me on.
16. Um. So Clark totally just killed a guy. Even if he sort of wanted to die. Clark killed a victim of Lex's. I was expecting Lex to mention a preprogrammed self-destruct function, but no. Clark killed a guy.
17. I realize that I no longer care about anyone in this show except for Lex. And Clark, but only because Lex cares. This is not the best mindset to enjoy the show. Sigh. I might give it up over the summer. We'll see.
18. Did I mention that Lex is hot?

Date: 2007-05-12 06:29 pm (UTC)...oh, Dean.
AHHHHHHH!! I wish I hadn't been so upset about the whole triple-A thing (I liked them, goddamn, more than all of the other BOTWs...), then I could have enjoyed it more. Sam has Main Character Immunity, the A's didn't, and - still, that last scene is wrenching, and it DOES count even if he is, doesn't it? And YAY for Dean's instincts to hug and hold and touch, unlike what Certain Other People do when their brothers are dying...!

Date: 2007-05-13 01:21 am (UTC)Now I have to ask: which certain other people?

Date: 2007-05-13 04:53 am (UTC)And anyway...J-chan & I have determined that those last 3 minutes get better every time you watch them. We're not quite at a dozen. Yet. The way Dean is holding him, doesn't know where to put his hands, and the way the LotR-style music swells, and then it stops and Dean cries and there's only the thunder of the coming storm and woooow...have you seen the preview yet? because oh dear, oh my, oh Dean...
(though I'm so worried about how next week will end. I mean, I know Sam's not gonna die, but if he or Dean is going to be dead/in hell for the whole summer (because if Dean decides to pull a John to get his little bro back - I don't know spoilers at all, this is just speculation)...it's gonna bea a long summer...!)

Date: 2007-05-13 08:52 am (UTC)Our show, though? Totally evil! And it has officially been taken over by the girls - you notice Kripke didn't write this episode either? And that they're now doing Presumed Dead? Or... well. Death fic, but with a twist, since Sam's NOT going to stay dead, but this is an excellent way to torture Dean. And then torture Sam, depending on how things work out, and - yes, still completely unspoiled (not even previews), while it's not very likely that Dean will let his little brother stay dead, it is kind of likely that one of them will be, at the end of the season.
It's going to be a long summer either way! Now that I got into Heroes too... Can't imagine that will end all nicely wrapped-up, and I'm seriously worried about a couple of the characters. Well. At least we'll have SGA?

Date: 2007-05-13 03:22 pm (UTC)J & I were also wondering if the kids can not only advance in their abilities, but also pick up the abilities of others? Like Sam seemed to have swiped Max's TK for that moment in "Nightmare", even though they've never mentioned that again. So if the winning kids gets all the powers in the end anyway, that's not too shabby...
I loved that the chick with the touch of death had a girlfriend and no one blinked. Even despite the Wincest jokes, the show handles the gay issue really nicely...after all the shows that dance around or ignore it, it's good to see it be mentioned this casually. Our show wins ^_^
And yep, Sera and Raelle have obviously killed off the rest of the staff and taken over! Though I bet Kripke writes the finale. Will haveta see!
Though the fear of the finale, how it will end, when this one ended like this - ooooh, I am sca~red! Hold me! *whimpers*

Date: 2007-05-13 10:31 pm (UTC)Hmmm...! Very interesting theory. Or maybe they just have all that potential, and it manifests in one way, but if they really try to learn how to use it, they get other skills? Andy seems to have gotten really good at the one thing he was doing, but then again, he was having fun with that, and not trying for anything else. But Ava, now. Yeah. A lot more going on with her than she used to have! And I do kind of like the idea of swiping the Highlander shtick, and there can be only one, and that One gets the combined power of all the others! Hmm.
Aw, yes. I just wish she'd, you know - lived. I'd like to have someone on the show who's not white (and male), and be... good, and alive, for more than five minutes or something. It gets annoying. But! Having a girl with a girlfriend, and nobody reacts other than with the "oh, bummer" at her having killed said girlfriend by accident? I loved that! I loved that it wasn't a big deal or anything.
Hee! I wonder if he will. I'm kind of surprised at how he hasn't written much of anything this season - though he did direct that one episode a little while ago. I wonder how much he's involved with where the show's going, and in the day-to-day management of it...
Finale. Will be BAD. Because that's what finales do. Are bad. And make you whimper. *hugs*
