SPN 2x22 - short reaction: O.M.G. I LOVE MY SHOW.

Long reaction:

I REALLY REALLY REALLY LOVE MY SHOW!

In no order, because I am quite sick and feverish and not in any condition to be coherent:

Tears! Oh, Dean!

HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUG!!! BOTH OF THEM ALIVE HUG!!!!

Fan. Fucking. Fic. How can Eric Kripke be male? Seriously, now!

I love Bobby! I love Bobby so very very much and am so glad he survived and so worried he won't make it through next season. I love how much he loves our boys, I love that he's so much a better father to them than John ever was (sorry, John, you know I love you but you aren't gonna win any parent of the year award). [livejournal.com profile] gnine was wondering if one of the things Bobby conflicted with John over was about raising the boys? Would not be surprised. I also love Bobby's expression when Sam & Dean turn up both alive on his doorstep, so very 'Oh you did NOT just do that,' to Dean.

Ellen lives! <3333 I love Ellen so very much too! The boys have a Daddy and a Mommy again, after all this time, and they both kick ass!

I totally adored the giant RR devil's trap, I mean that's just so awesome. Goofy maybe but awesome.

John climbs out of hell! John might have been fighting demons in hell! A hunter in hell! And is he gone to heaven (or wherever good little hunters go, methinks Dean would prefer Valhalla) or elsewhere?

Ol' Yellow Eyes is gone! And Dean got to call him a son of a bitch before he went!

Sam is...let's worry about Sam later. (Ol' Yellow Eyes pointing that out to Dean, in Kripke's oh-so-adorably clunky dialogue, heee)

The final conversation, oh the final conversation, and Sam just asking "how long" and "you're my big brother" and oh oh ohhhhhhh....

I hope that all next season isn't demon hunting, this show wouldn't be served by going arc...maybe 50/50 demons and urban legends, would work for me? But whatever. I have faith!

So very much faith.

Oh, Dean. Oh, Sam. Oh, Kripke. Oh, Show! <3

It's good I have SPN. It washes out the taste of SV.

Okay, it's decided, I hate this show. SV has made me hate Lionel. Lionel! The once Magnificent Bastard himself! Now he's just...I don't know. Using people and not telling them and this is a good thing? How is manipulating Lana into doing his dangerous dirty work that much better than mind control?

I guess it makes somewhat sense, though. Jor-El seems pretty much an asshole; if Martian Manhunter was in his employ, reasonable that he wouldn't really care about Lionel's methods. Though then why Lex's methods are such a big deal - because his goal is the same as theirs, saving the damn planet. Why is Lionel's way so much more honorable? ...Dammit. They're making me hate the Martian Manhunter, even! Nooooo!

Someone else pointed this out - now Martha Kent has gained two elected positions while not actually being elected for either of them. Uh, power to the people?

Chloe warns Lois off going up against Lex, because you never win. Except, umm, when have Chloe & Clark lost? They've always achieved their objectives against Lex, with the exception of Chloe's one 'crimes against humanity' article that she couldn't have published anyway because she hadn't done the necessary fact-finding. They got Flash out, they got Tobias away safely, they got Moira out. They've never tried to get anyone else out. And if Chloe mentions "what he did to my mother" one more time I am gonna smack her one (hey, actions speak louder than words, and since I'm a chick it's not thuggish when I do it) - just what did Lex do to your mother? She'd be in a coma either way. Face it, guys, you want Lex to be this awesomely scary supervillain so you can be the superheroes who bring him down, but right now he's just a loser who can't even get away with a murder he didn't even do. (More's the pity.)

At least Lois is trying. Harder than Chloe has in a while, since Chloe now is content to sit back and let Clark save the world, and Clark is only interested in saving Lana. Finding out Clark's secret makes you a useless loser; maybe it's best Lex was never allowed into the cabal. As the only two outsiders left, Lois and Lex totally need to get together and really save the world. Except I think Lois's morals aren't as compromisable as every other char's (dammit, I still like Lois), so she'll never go for it now. If only she'd teamed up with Lex a couple seasons ago, she could've beaten the evol out of him before it got this bad.

Absolutely the saddest part of the ep: Lex's main-man minion died! Like that! Dead! *sob* Unnamed minion, you will be missed! I swear, that's the thing that hurt me worst. I was fic'ing him in my head. I might still fic him but now it will be tragic! *sobs again*

Lex running like that felt out of char, see "Fallout" when he steps in the path of danger...[livejournal.com profile] gnine argues that it was just common sense, especially since he might've been trying to draw the thing's attention away from the lab and the super soldiers...would explain why his containment methods were so very sub-par; he didn't really want it trapped there with his project. But the scene was totally filmed to show how much a coward Lex was, giving up the doctor instead of risking his own miserable hide, or am I just sensitive?

Lana is just. Okay. Here's the thing. Lana is a meteor freak. I will not see it otherwise. It's her terrible powers that turn Lex into such a desperately stupid, blind, thuggish asshole. (At least his office camera caught her opening the briefcase! Thank everything that was mentioned!) "Lana loves me" - ummm, dude. You had to fake a pregnancy to get her to tie the knot. Not love so much there. (The fake pregnancy is just such totally incomprehensible nonsense it deserves a rant of its own. I can't make sense of it.) Other than meteor powers I cannot see how she could have him wrapped around her little finger, and so easily frame him for murder, and argh argh ARRRRGH. I couldn't even enjoy the much-anticipated slap because it was thuggish and out of line and pathetic. When you gotta smack the bitch because you can't get her back with a few choice words (such as, "Yeah, love, who was going to leave who at the altar, hamster-face?") , that's just sad.

Still, gotta love Lana's "He hit me!" to Lionel and Lionel being all "OH MY GAWD HOW AWFUL! My son who I have been backhanding since he was knee-high to a shoot of corn HIT you? That monster!"

If Lex is going to be the villain, then let him be A COMPETENT VILLAIN. Not this stupid evol loser.

This stupid evol loser who saved a couple peoples' lives in the opening scene. Yeah, show. I didn't forget. Unless Lex went and had his private SWAT team shoot the girl and priest just to prove how EVOL he is, which I wouldn't put past him.

...So very much hate.

There's gotta be something good - oh. Yes. Bizarro Clark is pretty. Just hope that face-fracturing is a temporary effect. And the fight was cool. Please let him survive and please let him ally with Lex and plot ways to take Clark prisoner and have their wicked way with him. Mass orgies with the silver-short gang!

Please? I don't know how I can bear to tune in otherwise...

As I said on herohunter's journal:

I loved the bit with Lex and Clark in the tunnel, with Clark jumping to the usual conclusion ("Whenever something bad happens, Lex must have done it!") and Lex looking honestly shocked at being told of Lana's death. And then the Zoner appeared, and Lex actually told Clark to run. *squees madly* He didn't say, "Get me out of here!" He told Clark to get out of there because the Zoner would kill them both. And, yes, okay, when Clark shoved him toward the exit, Lex ran, but clearly he knew that, if Clark was determined to fight, he'd have a better chance of beating the Zoner alone than with Lex there to worry about, and Lex has priorities and responsibilities of his own.

As for the part where the Zoner first woke up and killed the minion, and Lex shoved the scientist at it and ran for the door...that could be interpreted as cowardice on Lex's part, if one did not know Lex -- but we all know how many times Lex has shown courage and self-sacrifice. I think this was, again, a question of priorities. No single human life is as important as the safety of the entire human race, and Lex is trying to ensure just that: the safety of the entire human race. His project to protect humanity from insane mutants and alien invasion is what matters most, and he has to keep that in mind. If the scientist dies, Lex gets a new scientist, and the project keeps going. If Lex dies, the project dies with him, because the scientist can't keep it going on his own; he doesn't have the money or the influence or the sheer obsessive determination, and I don't see any other billionaires stepping up to defend the Earth from evil aliens. *glares at Oliver Queen* So Lex wasn't being a coward; he was being practical. Right now, it's more important that he stay alive to keep the project on track than that one of his interchangeable scientists stays alive. It's a question of human survival.

Don't know what the Bizarro Clark is up to, but I keep imagining Lex and both Clarks winding up in bed together....

On the downside, clearly Lana's death was faked, and we will have to endure yet more CLana in the future. *shudders* But did she do it of her own volition, to escape from Lex and Lionel? Did she have help (perhaps Oliver Queen)? Or was she kidnapped by someone who wanted her officially dead? Whoever was behind it seems to have deliberately framed Lex for the 'murder.' And if Lana stays gone long enough for Lex to actually go to prison over this, I can only hope he'll track down and annihilate whoever was responsible once he gets out. *pets Lex and polishes his knives*

As for SPN, I can only squee like a mad thing. *squees*

I already mentioned my problems with the tunnel sequence and lack of proper containment (though I love your idea that the doctor was in charge of the containment. Even if Lex should really know better than to trust his employees like that...!) I do feel sorry for Lex, I mean, what a way to find out your wife is dead! Clark, you ass. And he tells Clark to run anyway...though really Lex ought to have explained better. Not just for Clark's sake - knowing what Clark is (I refuse to accept that Lex doesn't have a clue), Lex should be damn scared of the phantom getting control of Clark.

Lex and the doctor...I agree on the priorities. It just seemed OOC to me, from Lex, who only a few eps before was putting his life on the line for the project with Keenan's wife, and still tried to save her anyway...he really should be more careful with his own life (I interpret the end of "Lexmas" like that - Lex is so furious with his father because he can still do his work as a cripple, but he can't do it dead, so Lionel choosing the riskier option was utterly the wrong choice.) In "Phantom" the terrified way he shoved the scientist into the thing's path was filmed like Lex was a hapless, hopeless coward...which we know he's not, but the show would like us to forget he has any good qualities.

...argh! so bitter! :P Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but...

You figure Lana had to have help from someone - I'm curious who. How the hell does she manage to arrange something like that without Lex or Lionel having a clue? Unlike Chloe's vast list of contacts, we've never seen Lana communicating with anyone. Except the guy in the Planet who got killed.

I can only hope he'll track down and annihilate whoever was responsible once he gets out.

That, or hire them. I love a villain who can swallow his pride and say 'damn, good show - how'd you like to make some real money?'

SPN - squeeeeee! ^___^
