I'm not especially an artist, but for various reasons, just recently I've been drawing a lot. And most of what I've been drawing has been One Piece, though I've never really done anime fanart before. But current manga events have been...inspiring. So, here's cute. Featuring everyone's favorite sharpshooter and his crewmates.

Zoro as usual goes straight to the point...why talk it out when this is so much easier?

Drew this one the wrong way on the page, ran outa room for his feet. >__>

Sanji & Usopp have just the sweetest friendship.

*peck* aww...

Who can resist a 2-foot-tall blue-nosed reindeer? No one, that's who!

And Luffy...will come. As soon as I can conceive of something to my liking. It's the hardest, for obvious reasons...

TOO CUTE *dies*

actually Sanji has his arm around Usopp quite a bit. My favorite is when they're going up Reverse Mountain and they do the fist-into-hand "Oh, I get it!" gesture, only it's Usopp's fist into Sanji's hand *^^*

Sanada said you had posted some of your OP pics on your livejournal. Pretty damn (oops, sorry) darn good. You're a talented artist and author.

I give you my condolences on OP being scheduled for Fox Box, they don't do ANY anime justice because they dumb it down for kiddies.

Don't worry about it, you were busy. I'm use to waiting.

Hey I'm reading and enjoying Tiger Hunt. If OP didn't have such goofy looking characters, maybe I could get into it, so I am really enjoying your fanfic because I don't have to look at the characters and I can make them different in my mind. Do you ever do that?

I restate how sorry I am that Fox Box picked up OP,it would have been better on anime unleashed or adult swim.

I wish I could write like you. I will hold you to your promise about DV and R2B.

Keep sharing your talent. You are so-o-o good at writing fics!

You know, I had that problem when I first started watching OP. I saw the manga in a Shonen Jump ages before I watched it, and didn't like the way it was drawn and then never pursued it until a friend FORCED me to watch it.

Now it's grown on me and I don't mind it as much.

...but I still like a lot of the fanart because it makes them look a little less doofy sometimes.

(Even if doofy DOES fit most of their personalities brilliantly...)

Thanks for being understanding; still, I'm terribly sorry for not emailing back - I suck! Please apologize to Sanada as well for me...but glad to hear you're enjoying all the stories! I will get back to the others - how could I not, with you guys cheering me on? ^_^

You might want to give OP's art another chance. I'm one of the few who liked the style from the start - I'm a fan of Western cartoons and saw elements of Warner Bros in Luffy's design. But I didn't imagine I could ever take it seriously. And then I found that it's one of the best manga & anime series I've ever seen, and the art is part of what makes it. I have lots of OP doujinshi, and many artists draw them beautifully--but I find I prefer Oda-sensei's depictions to anyone else's. The incredibly creative talent, the energy and feeling in his pictures, perfectly captures the characters. Other artists may draw the crew more attractively, but it isn't ever quite them, the chars I love so much.

--Which is another reason I urge you to get into OP, because my fanfic doesn't nearly do them justice...they're HARD characters to write... >_>

er...yes, possibly ^^; I don't believe Oda-sensei will undermine the entire theme of the series by having him leave like that, with his character arc unresolved, his dream unrealized. Part of friendship is fighting and forgiving.

Besides, if Usopp does leave for good, like this, it's going to ruin everything that came before for me. I won't be able to enjoy any of the arcs involving Usopp - which is all of them - and probably won't be a OP fan anymore. So, yes - I hope he does come back!

From: [identity profile] yosegaki.livejournal.com
Wow. You seriously wouldn't be an OP fan anymore if Usopp didn't come back? That seems a little hasty to me.

I don't know. I guess we'll see. Everyone's convinced that Oda wouldn't do something like that, but there's always the chance that he's trying to prove that he can do more than just fun and games all the time.

Then again, maybe I'm just a stupid fanfiction writer that's let angst infest her brain and seep through her ear-holes.

Not hasty, no. I'm not saying I'd stop fanning outright no matter what. But if Usopp really is just abandoned...yeah, I probably wouldn't like the series nearly as much anymore. I'd still think it's a great series, but I wouldn't be so emotionally invested. OP is my happy place, and I love it for the spirit of nakamaship above all else. Wreck that and I won't have my reason for staying.

There's enough angst in real life - I like happy endings in my fiction. And I personally don't believe that angst and pain and depressing finales make a work of fiction any more meaningful or powerful than one that's ultimately upbeat *shrugs* To each one's own!

I'm not exactly sure that that was what she was trying to say. I've noticed for myself that I'm simply better at writing angst than happy stuff.

Ahh, I apologize if I misunderstood. ^^; I spent much of high school lit classes trying to argue that the depressing trends of 20th century lit were not innately superior to 19th century happy endings, and it's still something I get defensive about. Especially because I've seen people on comms and such who seem to want Usopp - or some nakama - to die, just for the sake of having a death, as if it would make OP a stronger series...while as for me, Oda's ridiculously, absurdly happy endings are one of the reasons I love OP as much as I do. I can understand on one level, why it would make dramatic tension more dramatic if we're not guaranteed it will work out - but I'd rather have Usopp than drama. Besides, judging by the vehemence of the current debates, OP is not suffering from a lack of dramatic tension... ^^

Mmn. I understand what you're saying.

I don't think it's angst or depression that makes a good ending or a good story either, so I even more understand.

I, myself, just happen to be a sucker for angst. Writing it and reading it. Personal taste, is all.

What I like most about OP is the upbeat absurdity, as well, so Again, I understand that, too.

I, myself, at this point, however, am not sure I even want Usopp to come back, because I'm so ticked off at him. >.<

I'm in the odd position myself that I like angst - reading & writing it - but I like happy endings, too. Guess it's that I don't like angst just for the sake of angst; I like strong emotions and powerful relationships, and playing with those often leads to angst...

Speaking of such, why so angry with Usopp? He's overreacting, yes, but he's had a very rough time of it lately, and Luffy wasn't anywhere near as sympathetic as he could have been. From Usopp's point of view, it really did look like Luffy was casually throwing away the thing Usopp treasures most, something for which he got beaten almost to the point of death - and he still failed to protect the money. His self-esteem is at an all-time low; he's seventeen and his dreams are all crumbling around him. It's very human to fight with the people closest to you when you're that hurt and upset. I didn't like watching them fight like that, and I didn't agree with Usopp's challenge, but I completely understand why he did it...and now he needs a hug!

I understand what you're saying. I understand both points of view, but I guess I'm at a point where I'm just not siding with him, because of personal situations at the moment that are really reflecting situations that while, not similar (imagine that. I don't have a ship. XD) point to situations that echo too painfully.

The other thing I'm seeing is that, while Rufi doesn't seem very sympathetic, I can see that the decision he's making is for the good of the entire crew. Sometimes being in a leader position forces someone to make decisions that benifit the whole no matter how difficult they may be to make.

Say they couldn't afford to fix the ship, sailed with it anyway and it sunk?

It makes more sense to me to take a piece of it with him-- something sentimental, perhaps, and move on.

I know how hard it must be to leave behind the one piece of home he's got left and not be able to keep the ship that comes from the girl he's been infatuated with his entire life, but sometimes things just happen that way...Nothing to be done with it.

Seemingly insensitive or not, I agree with Rufi on his decison.
